Game fishing champion Nathan Adams partners with Lusty & Blundell
Nathan Adams with his new Raymarine electronics package about to be installed on his multiple record holding 6.5 “tinnie”.
Gamefishing champion Nathan Adams, who is an IGFA world record holder and multiple game fishing Nationals’ winner, has partnered with Lusty & Blundell, using Raymarine electronics on both his existing boat and his new project boat.
Nathan, an ex commercial fisher who still uses his 6.5-metre ex commercial fishing Bluewater “tinnie”, Western Break, is also the owner, designer and manufacturer of Red Gill Custom game fishing lures. He holds the 37kg IGFA world record for a 335kg Pacific bluefin tuna and an IGFA world record broadbill swordfish with junior angler Jessie Wright.
His Red Gill Lures team has won the Broadbill Team Champions section of the NZSFC Nationals four years in a row, along with the heaviest swordfish of the tournament in two of those years, His team has also taken out the heaviest billfish of the tournament with an 800lb black marlin, at the time the heaviest marlin ever caught on the West Coast. They have also won the 15kgs striped marlin section of the Nationals and had numerous other placings, including top team for the Auckland region on several occasions.
Nathan decided he needed a change in electronics when he started work on his new project boat, a bigger, more comfortable 10-metre Seamaster that will allow him to fish further offshore and stay away for longer.
Nathan says he was determined to take advantage of the latest sounder technology and really liked the features of the Axiom Pro 12”.
“It is so easy to use and, in addition to the latest Touchscreen technology, it also comes standard with buttons and knobs so I don’t need to use a separate keypad in rough weather.”
“I am only interested in having the best,” he says, “and I believe the latest Raymarine gear is just that.”
Nathan says he especially rates Raymarine’s CHIRP technology and really likes the Axiom Pro’s built-in 1kW dual-frequency CHIRP sounder.
“This allows me to run the Ultra High Frequency 3D and Side Scan transducers while using the CP 570 network sounder to drive the deep water low/medium CHIRP transducer.”
Lusty and Blundell’s marketing manager, Shirner Dyson, says adding Nathan to the Raymarine ambassador team is a real coup.
“We are so glad to have him on board and very proud that he, along with hundreds of our other satisfied customers, recognises that Raymarine really is the leader in highly sophisticated yet super-easy-to-use marine electronics.
