Latest free LightHouse II upgrade includes collision avoidance, WiFi updates & more
The latest free upgrade to Raymarine’s acclaimed LightHouse II operating system (Release 15) supports direct software updates over Wi-Fi, improves collision avoidance and allows skippers to monitor their engine room using the new FLIR AX8 marine thermal camera system The latest free upgrade to Raymarine’s acclaimed LightHouse II operating system (Release 15) supports direct software updates over Wi-Fi, improves collision avoidance and allows skippers to monitor their engine room using the new FLIR AX8 marine thermal camera system.
The new LightHouse II upgrade makes it far easier for Raymarine multifunction display (MFD) owners to keep up-to-date with the latest FLIR and Raymarine technology — enabling them to use WiFi to wirelessly update their MFDs, autopilots, sonars, instruments and radars directly from Raymarine.
In addition, the new LightHouse Collision Avoidance Tools helps skippers cope with the increasing number of AIS targets often found in crowded waterways. Using easy-to-interpret on-screen graphics to monitor “target interception zones”, Collision Avoidance Tools makes it easy for both experienced and novice skippers to chart the safest course through these potentially dangerous crossing situations. Commercial and first responder vessels can also use the zones to track and rendezvous with designated AIS targets.
LightHouse II Release 15 also enables skippers to keep an even closer and safer eye on the mechanical systems in their engine, using the new FLIR AX8 marine thermal monitoring system. Combining thermal and visible cameras in a small, affordable package, the AX8 keeps a watchful eye on such critical equipment as engines, exhaust manifolds and shaft bearings. Displaying both visual and thermal images on the boat’s MFD(s), the AX8 helps skippers spot problems before they lead to breakdowns or potentially costly repairs. The AX8 also features programmable alarms for detecting temperature anomalies (such as those indicating potential fire, water leaks or damaged hoses) and FLIR’s exclusive MSX® technology, which allows skippers to easily interpret what they see.
