Victron’s new Battery Balancer protects expensive battery banks
Victron Energy’s new Battery Balancer is designed to protect vessels that use more than one battery to create their battery banks, for example to provide 24v or 48v power.
Small differences in voltages between the individual batteries can cause big problems for the whole bank, resulting in dramatically shortened battery life and even complete failure.
The Victron Battery Balancer provides a simple but very effective solution: actively correcting any imbalances between the batteries and sounding an alarm if the deviation is too great. The Battery Balancer provides effective protection for conventional, gel and lithium batteries and for batteries connected in both series strings and series/parallel banks.
Paul Bartley, from New Zealand Victron distributor, Lusty and Blundell, recommends using the Battery Balancer with Victron’s recently-released BMV-702 Battery Monitor.
“By using the Battery Balancer and Battery Monitor together, boat owners can closely monitor their 24v and 48v battery banks and ensure they remain in tip-top condition, potentially saving thousands of dollars in unnecessary battery replacement costs.”
Victron’s new Battery Balancer and BMV-702 Battery Monitor are available nationwide through Lusty & Blundell’s network of marine dealers and professional electrical installers. Product and dealer information is available from Lusty and Blundell on (09) 415-8303 or at www.lusty-blundell.co.nz.
